PELHAM PROUD CAMPAIGN

Dear fellow Pelham residents and institutions

At Pelham School we have always been proud of our commitment to the environment. We are proud that our school grounds are litter-free and we would love to be proud of our suburb too – but at the moment, our surroundings in the Pelham area are more likely to cause us shame.

With the World Cup just around the corner, we feel it is more important than ever to show visitors to Pietermaritzburg that we are a proud City and a proud Nation.

While it is the responsibility of the Municipality to ensure that rubbish is collected and that streets are clean, it is also the responsibility of residents not to drop litter haphazardly and cause our suburb to be unsightly. If this does not happen should we just sit back and complain?

Pelham School believes that every resident of our neighbourhood can and should make a difference. In the past Pelham learners have taken part in litter free parades to clean up streets around our school only to find that the litter is back within a couple of days. We need your support if we are to achieve our goal to make Pelham suburb a LITTER-FREE ZONE.

Litter Free Zone

We all lead busy lives. Do YOU have the time to become involved in a Pelham Proud Campaign? What’s in it for YOU?

If we live in a clean and beautiful area it increases our self-respect and dignity. When we take pride in our surroundings we are more aware of them. Awareness allows us to take back Pelham from the careless and criminal people who detract from our quality of life. As our suburb changes for the better other areas of Pietermaritzburg will sit up and take notice, until our whole City blossoms into a real CITY OF CHOICE.
